The role of thermal inhomogeneities in the physical nature of Brownian motion is proved. By means of phasesensitive laser setup experiments for observation of refractive index fluctuations in various fluids are made. These fluctuations have been detected by registration of frequency-phase variations of laser radiation. Keywords:
phase-sensitive laser measurements, Brownian motion, thermal inhomogeneity, refractive index fluctuations.
