The article deals with the content of the inscription on a gold tablet from the Mireuksa temple complex belonging to late Baekje period, which was placed in a Buddhist reliquary. Dwelling on philosophical aspects of Buddhism, the text is a valuable source on the Buddhist character of early medieval society in Korea. The contents of the short inscription gives an opportunity to date the artifact; besides, it allows to complement and amend the evidence of the chapter from Samguk Yusa chronicle dealing with ruling period of king Mu. The new epigraphic material augments insufficient data of narrative sources on Baekje period.

Keywords: Korea, early Middle Ages, Baekje, Mireuksa, Buddhism.
