AbstractThe article focuses on the study of the bionym «wolf» (чоно) in the naïve linguistic consciousness of the native speakers of the Mongolian language. To analyze the materials collected in Mongolia from about 200 respondents via psycholinguistic experiment, the following methods were used: semantic comparison, synthesis as well as lexicographic description. A psycholinguistic dictionary entry of the bionym «wolf» (чоно) for the future dictionary of everyday naïve interpretations is proposed. The research has also revealed some significant differences in the approaches to describe the meanings of the word “wolf” between two “standard” Mongolian explanatory dictionaries and the future Dictionary of everyday interpretations now in progress.
